Success Story: How Creative Consultant and Freelance Writer Gururaj Rao is increasing his online outreach with his own website?

Gururaj Rao is a Creative Consultant and Freelance Writer working in the advertising industry. He’s passionate about ideas and storytelling. As a copywriter, he has spent over 17 years in advertising and worked with agencies like Ogilvy, Publicis, JWT, DDB Mudra and Havas worldwide. In his last full-time stint, he was the Executive Creative Director at Havas Worldwide, where he headed the creative department of the Mumbai office. He has worked on some of the biggest brands in the country.

His work has won a few national and international awards, including at the Clio awards, The Effies, Abby Awards and YoungGuns. He was ranked 35th in the YoungGuns Global Young Creative Rankings in 2008. He was also nominated for the Young Achievers Award by Advertising Club, Bombay the same year. In 2012, he wrote and entered a script at a national level ad script writing competition where it was chosen as the best script by some of India’s top creative heads and he won a trip to the Cannes International Advertising Festival as a result.

Gururaj also loves the movies and has been trying his hand at writing feature film scripts since 2017. He’s written two spec scripts until now and is currently in the process of pitching them. Apart from advertising and cinema, Gururaj loves reading literary fiction and poetry as well as hiking in the Himalayas.
